The Nikon D810 is a new DSLR that "offers the highest image quality in Nikon's history". According to Nikon, the D810 has a brand new 36.3 megapixel sensor with no optical low pass filter that delivers image quality that rivals medium format cameras. In addition, the Nikon D810 has an ISO range of 32-51200, 1080/60p video recording, Expeed 4 image processing engine, 51-point auto-focus system, 5fps burst shooting at full resolution, and an improved LCD monitor (3.2-inch with 1299K dots).
The Nikon D810 will replace both the D800 and D800E models, and will cost £2,699 / 3299Euros / $3,299.95, available from the 17th July.

The Sony a77 II is a new interchangeable lens camera with a 79 point phase detection AF system with 15 cross points. The A77 II delivers ultra-fast, intelligent AF tracking and up to 12 fps burst of up to 60 full-resolution frames, features a 24.3 megapixel Exmor CMOS image sensor with an ISO range of 100-25600, and also boasts an XGA OLED Tru-Finder and 3-way tiltable LCD, magnesium body with dust- and moisture-resistant seals, BIONZ X processor, Full HD 50p video and NFC/Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Sony a77 II is available to pre-order now from http://www.sony.co.uk and will be on general sale in Europe from Summer 2014.

Nikon Wins Four Accolades at TIPA 2014

Nikon has received four TIPA 2014 awards. The Best Entry-Level DSLR award went to the Nikon D3300 (pictured). The Nikon D4S has been named this year's best professional DSLR camera, whilst the Nikon AW1 has received the TIPA Best Rugged Camera award. Last but not least the Nion Df was honoured with the title "Best Premium Camera."

Canon Achieves Four Honours at 2014 TIPA Awards

Canon has been awarded four honours by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). The EOS 70D was named Best Advanced DSLR, the title 'Best Expert Compact Camera' went to the Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II, the EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x (pictured) was dubbed 2014's Best Pro DSLR Lens, while Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology won the Best Imaging Innovation category.

Pentax K-3 Wins TIPA Award

Ricoh UK has announced that the Pentax K-3 camera was selected as the Best Expert DSLR by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). In its official product citation, TIPA noted: 'Developed by Ricoh Imaging as the flagship of the Pentax K digital SLR camera series, the Pentax K-3 with 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor adds the unique “anti-aliasing simulator” to its low pass filter-less design. Housed in a weather-sealed magnesium alloy body, the camera can deliver 8.3 frames per second in bursts of 23 RAW or 60 JPEG images. Utilising the sensor-shift image stabilisation mechanism it adds a controllable “anti-moirĂ©” effect. The K-3 delivers Full HD video with stereo sound and an upgraded interval movie mode for capturing 4K movie clips. It also incorporates a new PRIME III processor and 27-point SAFOX II AF system, with 25 cross-type sensors. The shutter is now rated at a robust 200,000 actuations.'
